The Ussé castle is located to Rigny-Usse, in Indre-et-Loire (France) and is part of the castles of the Loire.
The first known lord of Usse in 1004 was the chief of Viking Guelduin I said the devil of Saumur, Saumur lord of Usse and Pontlevoy. He built the first wooden fortress. His son Guelduin II in 1040 began construction of a stone castle. In 1099, Olivier d'Ussé is the lord of the place.
Its other name «the castle of Sleeping Beauty», as Charles Perrault would be inspired by this castle to the tale of Sleeping Beauty.
